Shrine clubs to combine for meeting

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County and Shelby County shrine clubs will join for a dinner meeting and ladies night April 20 at the Blue Bird Restaurant in Morristown. Leadership Hancock County alumni event set

GREENFIELD – Leadership Hancock County’s annual alumni event will be 2-4 p.m. April 6 at Wooden Bear Brewing, 21 E. North St., Greenfield. Tickets are $25 and includes pizza and beer. Reservations should be made at [email protected].

Trivia charity events planned

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Elks will host two trivia events this weekend, benefiting local charities.

A trivia night 5:30 p.m. April 2 benefits the Kenneth Butler Memorial soup Kitchen and will feature pulled pork barbecue dinner with slaw. Teams of 2 to 10 are $10 per person at the door, with $10 per team going into a pot where the winner will take all.

Two events April 3 will benefit the Michael George Fund for special education needs. “Milkshakes for Michael” is from 2-4 p.m.; free will donations are accepted. Harry Potter Trivia is 4-6 p.m. and cheeseburger dinner baskets will be served. Cost is $5 per person; the Michael George Fund is named after Mayor Chuck Fewell’s grandson Michael, who loved milkshakes and Harry Potter. Downtown Greenfield topic of chamber luncheon

GREENFIELD– The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce will feature Greenfield Main Street in a lunch event 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 5.

Greek cooking demonstration set for herb society

GREENFIELD – Learn about cooking with Greek herbs in a demonstration April 7 by the Hancock County Herb Society.

The program is presented by Ellen Manolopoulos and will feature multiple Greek dishes. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at Lizabuth Ann’s Kitchen, located behind the James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home, 250 W. Main St., Greenfield. DAR welcomes new member

KNIGHTSTOWN – Charlotte Hosman was welcomed as the newest member of the Major Hugh Dinwiddie Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution during the group’s March meeting.

The meeting also included discussion of where to place flags this spring and a slide presentation of the 1902 Smallpox pandemic in Knightstown. The group’s next meeting will be at 1 p.m. April 2 at the historic Knightstown Inc. on the town square.

Retired teachers learn about mental health fund

GREENFIELD – Representatives from Hancock Health Foundation and Healthy 365 spoke with Hancock County Retired Teachers at the group’s March meeting about an initiative to raise $3.5 million to establish an endowment to fund assistance for mental health and substance abuse issues in the county.
