INDIANAPOLIS — The stage has been set.
On Sunday, the Indiana High School Athletic Association conducted its blind draw to determine sectional pairings across the state for the 112th annual boys basketball state tournament series.
The pairings were officially revealed Sunday with sectional games scheduled to begin on Tuesday, March 1, and run through Saturday, March 5, with regional tournaments set for Saturday, March 12.
Semistate games will be played on Saturday, March 19. The four state championship games will be conducted during the state finals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Saturday, March 26.
Three of Hancock County’s four boys basketball teams will compete in the Class 4A Sectional 9 tournament at Greenfield-Central High School.
The seven-team sectional commences on Tuesday, March 1, with Muncie Central (4-16) facing New Palestine (16-6) in the first quarterfinal contest at 7 p.m. The winner will advance to the semifinal round to play Richmond (9-14), who received the first-round bye, on Friday, March 4 at 6 p.m.
Hoosier Heritage Conference rivals Pendleton Heights (7-14) and defending outright league champion 4A No. 10 Mt. Vernon (18-2) are scheduled to play in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, March 2, at 6 p.m.
The host Greenfield-Central Cougars (14-7) and Anderson (18-4) will play in the final quarterfinal game on Wednesday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m.
The winners from Pendleton Heights-Mt. Vernon and Greenfield-Central-Anderson will face off in the tournament’s second semifinal contest on Friday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m.
The sectional championship game is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, March 5.
Class 2A No. 12 Eastern Hancock travels to the Hagerstown Sectional 41 tournament.
The Royals (15-5) will open sectional play in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday, March 3 against Union County (5-14) at 6 p.m. The evening’s second quarterfinal contest is between Cambridge City Lincoln (6-11) and Centerville (0-19) at 7:30 p.m.
The sectional tournament begins on Tuesday, March 1, with Shenandoah (12-9) facing Northeastern (16-4) at 6 p.m., followed by Knightstown (6-13) against host Hagerstown (6-15) at 7:30 p.m.
The winners from Tuesday will play in the first semifinal game on Friday, March 4, at 6 p.m. The winners from Wednesday’s games will advance into the second semifinal contest on Friday, March 4, at 7:30 p.m.
The sectional championship game is scheduled for the evening of Saturday, March 5.
