County adds 2 new COVID-19 deaths, total now 239

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county has reported two new COVID-19 deaths this week, raising its total to 239.

One of the victims was a woman age 80 or older who died on Feb. 8 and the other was a man in his 70s who died on Feb. 13.

The county added just 11 new COVID-19 cases from Tuesday, continuing its plummeting trend following the omicron variant surge.

Hancock County’s state COVID-19 advisory level remains red, the most severe, but on Wednesday its weekly score improved to orange. If the virus’ spread continues to remain low in the county, its advisory level will improve to orange next Wednesday.

Indiana added 125 new COVID-19 deaths Wednesday that occurred between Jan. 1 and Feb. 15, raising its total to 21,524. The state also added 1,447 new cases from Tuesday. Statewide COVID-19 hospitalizations stood at 1,525 as of Tuesday.
