Charity purse raffle planned

GREENFIELD – A designer purse raffle benefiting Psi Iota Xi – Upsilon Chapter will be held on Facebook Live at 7 p.m. today, Tuesday, Feb. 8.

Ticket price is three raffle tickets for $20. Contact a member to purchase a ticket or visit www.facebook.com/PIXupsilon. Proceeds will support the chapter’s charitable efforts in speech, hearing, art, literature and music in Hancock County.

Winter blues presentation scheduled

Blood drives scheduled in community

HANCOCK COUNTY — Several opportunities to donate blood in and near the county are coming up.

The Greenfield Parks Department is hosting a blood drive from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Feb. 8 at the Shelter House at Riley ark. A $10 Amazon gift card is available for donating. Sign up at www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/drive-results?zipSponsor=greenfieldpr.

A blood drive honoring Quinton Batton’s fight against leukemia will be held 3-7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15 at the Greenfield Intermediate School gym, 204 W. Park Ave., Greenfield. Sign up at donate.indiana.versiti.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/153460.

A blood drive in memory of Brynnley “B” Niederhaus will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, March 5 at Brandywine community Church, 1551 E. New Road, Greenfield. Brynnley, 6, died in November after fighting a rare, inoperable cancerous brain tumor. The blood drive, through Versiti Blood Center of Indiana, is organized by her family and the Live Like B Foundation. Sign up at donate.inidiana.versiti.org.

Backyard fruit growing classes offered

GREENFIELD – Local residents can sign up to learn about backyard fruit production in a series of workshops starting Feb. 16.

The workshops, hosted by Purdue Extension of Hancock County, offers current and aspiring backyard fruit growers the opportunity to learn from experts about how to increase the success and quality of fruit production at home. Each session is 6:30-8:30 p.m. and is offered live at 803 Apple St., Greenfield, or remotely. Sessions are Feb. 16, Feb. 23, March 2, March 9 and March 16. Cost is $40 per person for all sessions.

Healthy365 announces support classes

GREENFIELD – Healthy365, the outreach branch of Hancock Health, recently announced several trainings and events. Suicide prevention trainings (QPR) will be offered at three Hancock Wellness Centers this year. Mental Health First Aid training is also scheduled, as well as a support group for families affected by addiction (CRAFT) and several other health support groups.
