GREENFIELD – February may be the time to get outside and enjoy Indiana’s winter landscape – or just hibernate under blankets with a good book.

The Hancock County Public Library is inviting people of all ages to join a winter reading challenge, “Walking Indiana Wonderland,” running today through Feb. 28.

To sign up, follow the link at hcplibrary.org to the reading software Beanstack. Those who sign up are invited to log the minutes they read as an individual, together as a family, or with a friend. Users may enter their password from previous challenges or create a new one.

Each hour of reading generates one e-ticket that can be entered in prize drawings for gift cards to local restaurants or Indiana-themed prize packs. Participants get to choose from 24 drawings. The more they read, the more e-tickets they can enter. Everyone who logs at least five hours receives a free library bag.

People living in Hancock County may sign up and log time from any of their devices at hcplibrary.org. Librarians will also set up logging stations at both the main branch in Greenfield and the Sugar Creek branch in New Palestine.

Prize drawings take place on March 2, and winners will be notified. Prizes must be picked up by March 13. For questions, call 317-462-5141.
