Sarah Burnett and her daughter Ava share this recipe for “Best Chocolate Chip Cookies.”

“These cookies are special to our family because they are my husband’s great-uncle and -aunt Bill and Linda Craft’s recipe they created together and made for many gatherings of friends and family for many years,” Burnett writes. “These cookies are simple yet turn out delicious every time. If you are looking for a crowd-pleasing cookie for your next party or work event, try these easy chocolate chip cookies.”

1 cup shortening

1 cup packed brown sugar

½ cup white sugar

1 tsp vanilla

1 tsp baking powder

1 tsp. Salt

2 eggs

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 cup chocolate chips

1 cup nuts (optional)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together the shortening, brown sugar and white sugar. Add vanilla, baking powder and salt. Continue to add eggs, flour, chocolate chips and nuts. Mix well. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for eight minutes. Enjoy!
