County adds 2 COVID deaths; total now 216

HANCOCK COUNTY — Two more county residents have died from COVID-19, raising the local toll from the virus to 216.

The recent victims were in their 50s and age 80 or older, according to the Indiana Department of Health. Both were men. One occurred on Dec. 20, 2021 and the other on Jan. 12, 2022.

As of late last week, the county continued averaging over 200 new cases a day. Indiana is averaging nearly 14,000 new cases a day.

The state also added nearly 100 new COVID-19 deaths late last week, dating between late November of last year and Jan. 13, 2022. They raised the state’s novel coronavirus death toll to just under 19,500.
