GREENFIELD — A Greenfield pediatrician is the newest member of the Greenfield-Central School Board.
Dr. Lori Wean was sworn in along with fellow board members for 2022 at the Jan. 10 board meeting.
Wean was selected by fellow board members to fill the seat left open by Kathy Dowling, who died in November.
Dowling was elected to her third four-year term in 2020, which means the seat will be up for election in 2024.
Superintendent Harold Olin said nine people from District 4 expressed interest in the vacant board position. “I can tell you by reviewing the resumes and letters of interest that were provided, this was a very accomplished list of community members,” he said.
The current board members interviewed all applicants and narrowed the field to four finalists, who underwent a second round of interviews.
Olin said that while any of the finalists would have made a good board member, Wean had a number of attributes that elevated her to the top.
