MORRISTOWN
Katherine (McCracken) Davis, age 84, of Morristown, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, December 14, 2021. She was born in Mt. Vernon, Kentucky on August 16, 1937 to Edward McCracken and Annas (McGuire) McCracken. On July 27, 1956, Katherine married Buster N. Davis in Liberty, Indiana.
She worked at Hancock Memorial Hospital for 20 years as a nurse’s aide. Prior to that, she worked at the old Morristown Manor and Marion County Home. Katherine was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Morristown. In her free time, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook large home cooked meals for her family, especially at Christmas, her favorite time of the year. She also enjoyed gardening and reminiscing of her growing up years in the Appalachian Mountains. Her caregiving spirit went above and beyond her family and loved ones. She truly believed in being the hands and feet of Jesus with her servant heart.
Katherine is survived by her children, Gary Davis of Shelbyville, Trena (Michael) Keck of Morristown, Deborah (Jimmie) Seaton of Morristown, and Jerry Davis of Carthage; grandchildren, Jeremy, Chad, Jaima, Katie, Kallie, Krystofer, and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Kaidence, Karima, Hakeem, Zane, Jazmin, Baylee, Maycee, Payslee, Landon, Elizabeth, Benjamin, Aiden, Grace Katherine, Lillie, Lincoln, LillieAnn, and Hattie Lou; sisters, Edie Miller, Hazel Bailey, Rosemary Robinson, Lucille Rowe, Carolyn Caudill, and Janet Garrett; and brothers, Randy McCracken and Hershel Hale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Davis; parents, Edward and Annas; and siblings, Bronco, Linda, Frankie, Geneva and James.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Erlewein Mortuary &Crematory, 1484 W. US Hwy. 40, Greenfield, IN 46140. A funeral service will follow the visitation starting at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Asbury Cemetery in Morristown.
