Community briefs: Healthy community award nominations sought

GREENFIELD — Nominations are accepted for awards that recognize local organizations and people whose service efforts have created a positive change in the health and wellness of the local community.

Hancock Health Foundation announced it is accepting nominations for the Bert Curry Healthy Community Award, named in honor of the foundation’s first executive director recognizing an individual who demonstrates a commitment to helping others. It is also accepting nominations for the Bobby Keen Healthy Community Award, named after the hospital’s former president and CEO that recognizes a hospital program or local organization that makes an impact on the health and wellness of the community.

Hot cocoa social scheduled

GREENFIELD — A hot cocoa social is planned for 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 at Stillinger Family Funeral Home, 1780 W Main St, Greenfield. People can make their own hot cocoa creation with their choice of toppings, and watch the funeral home’s annual Christmas tree lighting. The event is free and open to the public; reservations are through Eventbrite.

Shrine Club gatherings planned

GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Shrine Club’s meal and meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23 at the FOP. The meal by the Bluebird Restaurant is $10; the theme is past president’s night and spouses may attend. RSVP to Randy Riley texting or calling (317) 498-0806 by Friday, Nov. 20.

An officer installation and Christmas Party will be held at the Bluebird Restaurant on Wednesday, Dec. 1. Social time is at 6 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $16.95 and includes the meal and tip. RSVP to Randy Riley texting or calling (317) 498-0806 by Friday, Nov. 26.
