Suspect nabbed after fleeing accident scene

NEW PALESTINE — A quiet, crisp fall Monday morning in New Palestine was interrupted when police had to chase down a man wanted on a warrant out of Marion County.

Officers with the New Palestine Police Department and Hancock County sheriff’s deputies worked together on a call about a subject who took off after an accident around 9 a.m. in the 7000 block of West U.S. 52.

Bob Ehle, New Palestine chief of police, said officers establishing a perimeter to contain the suspect. Ehle said the suspect, whose name was not immediately released, was apprehended with the help of a Sheriff’s Department K-9 officer.

The suspect was taken to the hospital following capture, officials said.
