Healthy community award nominations sought

GREENFIELD — Nominations are accepted for awards that recognize local organizations and people whose service efforts have created a positive change in the health and wellness of the local community.

Hancock Health Foundation announced it is accepting nominations for the Bert Curry Healthy Community Award, named in honor of the foundation’s first executive director, recognizing an individual who demonstrates a commitment to helping others. It is also accepting nominations for the Bobby Keen Healthy Community Award, named after the hospital’s former president and CEO that recognizes a hospital program or local organization that makes an impact on the health and wellness of the community.

Adult art classes available

GREENFIELD — Adult art opportunities are available through the Greenfield Parks Department.

“Sip and Paint: Let’s Do this Yam Thing” will be held at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 19 at Lizabeth Ann’s Kitchen located behind the James Whitcomb Riley Boyhood Home, 244 W. Main St. Participants will create their own mason jar centerpieces and receive a snack and one choice of drink. The 21-and-older program is $35 per participant and is pre-registration only at parks.greenfieldin.org.

Turkey Day benefit run planned

GREENFIELD — A “Turkey Day 5K” scheduled for Thanksgiving morning will generate proceeds for the Hope House, Greenfield Main Street and Greenfield Parks and Recreation.

The course starts and finishes in front of the Hancock County Veterans Memorial Building. The event encourages costumes; finishers medals are available for the first 500 that register. Cost ranges from $12 for youth, to $25 for adults running a one-mile to $35 for adults doing the 5K. Registration fees also apply. Visit runsignup.com/Race/IN/Greenfield/GreenfieldTurkeyDay5K.
