GREENFIELD — An Indianapolis man is being charged with felony burglary after victims say he broke into their home and took some of their belongings.
Edward Earl Morgan, Jr. 32, 2000 block of East Washington Street, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 21, and charged with a Level 4 felony count of burglary of a dwelling; a Level 6 felony count residential entry; and a Class A misdemeanor charge of attempt to commit theft.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Morgan is accused of breaking into a home in 300 block of South Pennsylvania Street on May 27. Officers from the Greenfield Police Department arrived in time to see Morgan leaving the residence with a box of items.
One of the homeowners at first told officers Morgan was a friend and they didn’t want him arrested. But after learning Morgan had broken in through a window and gone through several rooms in the home, the victims asked that charges be filed.
Morgan made an initial appearance via video in Hancock County Circuit Court on Thursday, Oct. 21, where Magistrate Cody Coombs set a $7,000 cash bond. Morgan is still listed as an inmate in the county jail and has a pretrial hearing slated for December.
