GREENFIELD — The city recognized a local businessman and benefactor on his 90th birthday.
Mayor Chuck Fewell proclaimed Sept. 29 Bob Wortman Day.
The proclamation notes that as a businessman owning and operating J.R. Wortman Co., Fountaintown Gas Co. and South Eastern Indiana Natural Gas Co., Wortman has provided service to 23 communities in seven counties.
Through his contributions, the life of his late wife lives on through the Sue Ann Wortman Cancer Center and Sue Ann Wortman Nephrology Center.
Wortman served in the U.S. Marines and has received numerous awards and accolades, including the Sagamore of the Wabash.
