Community briefs: Canned food drive Oct. 16

GREENFIELD — “Fill a Truck, Fill a Pantry” food drive will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at Greenfield Christian Church parking lot, 210 E. Main St.

The event is hosted by Rotary Club of Greenfield and is providing nonperishable items to Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen, Hancock County Food Pantry, the Shirley-Wilkinson United Methodist Church Food Pantry and the Fortville Area Resource Mission.

Benefit adult costume ball Oct. 29

GREENFIELD — An adult costume ball, dinner and dancing event will be held Friday, Oct. 29 to raise money for Mental Health Partners of Hancock County and Talitha Koum Women’s Recovery House.

“Nightmare on Main Street” will be held at Bradley Hall Events Center, 2 W. Main St. with cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner and dancing at 7 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person or $700 per table of eight. Participants must be 21 to attend; tickets are available at nightmareonmainstreet.org or at Penny’s Florist Home Decor and More.

Children’s Lego event planned

GREENFIELD — Children in grades kindergarten through fifth can participate in a Lego free-build event at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road. Everyone will get scoops of bricks and a building plate. Finished creations will be put on display in the children’s room. Register at hcplibrary.org by clicking on the Events tab.
