County adds 2 COVID-19 deaths, total now 171

HANCOCK COUNTY — Two more county residents have died from COVID-19, raising the local death toll from the novel coronavirus to 171.

One of the latest fatalities was age 80 or older and the other was in their 70s, according to information from the Indiana Department of Health. One was a woman and one was a man. One of the deaths occurred on Sept. 17 and the other on Sept. 27.

Hancock County also added 56 new cases of the virus from Wednesday. The county’s sate-assigned COVID-19 advisory level remains orange, the second most severe.

Indiana added 31 COVID-19 deaths occurring between Sept. 21 and 29, raising its total to 15,165. The state also added 3,482 new cases from Wednesday.
