State police officer promoted to lieutenant

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police Sgt. Rich Silcox of Hancock County has been promoted to  lieutenant. Silcox will now serve as tactical commander and oversee tactical operations for the state police S.W.A.T., scuba, tactical K-9 and explosive ordnance disposal teams.

Silcox is a 1993 graduate of Greenfield-Central High School and attended Indiana State University and IUPUI in Indianapolis. He graduated from the 57th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 1999 and was appointed a trooper in Connersville, where he served for seven years.

In 2018, Silcox earned the rank of sergeant. He has served in the Special Operations Division as a strategic planner. During his career, Silcox has served the state police as a field training officer; on the mobile field force; control tactics instructor; underwater search and rescue team diver, tactical flight officer; and S.W.A.T. officer.
