HANCOCK COUNTY — A Hancock County man was killed earlier this week when the skid-steer he was working under fell on him.
Emergency personnel responded to the incident at around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 31, in the 9000 block of North County Road 1100E. Maj. Robert Campbell with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department said Phillip Jones, 65, was working under a skid-steer raised by a forklift and chains when the machine fell on him.
Campbell said Jones was found by others on the scene who called for assistance, and that he was dead upon first-responders’ arrival.
According to Jones’ obituary, he owned Phil Jones & Son Construction. His obituary is on Page A3.
