Kids, teens programs abound at library

GREENFIELD — Both branches of the Hancock County Public Library will be in full swing with kids programming starting next week. Baby, toddler and preschool storytimes are available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays starting Tuesday, Sept. 7.

Homeschoolers aged 9-14 can learn about acting and basic techniques using facial expressions, movement and creativity in an Acting Expressions class. The event is at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9 at the Sugar Creek branch.

Teens in grades 6-12 can create designs with Perler Beads. Beads, templates, bead boards and a press to melt the designs are available on site at the main branch in Greenfield, at 4 p.m. Sept. 9.

Apples, animal show ready at orchard

FAIRLAND — Head down to Pleasant View Orchard for opening weekend of apple picking and a live animal show by Silly Safaris. Admission and parking is free and there’s a playground on site. A minimal u-pick apple crop due to a late spring freeze is expected to be available for picking for the first time Saturday, Sept. 4, while apples and treats are available in the store. The live animal show will be at 3 p.m. Sept. 4.

Free summer movie featuring Indiana classic

GREENFIELD — Catch a free outdoor flick and enjoy the classic “Hoosiers” in Stillinger’s Sunset Movie Series this Saturday, Sept. 4.

The funeral home hosts the family event on a big screen on its property, 1780 W. Main St., so guests can enjoy the summer air and watch a movie as the sun sets. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Tickets can be reserved online at celebratelife.stillingerfamily.com.
