Community briefs: Library announces September programs for adults

GREENFIELD — The Hancock County Public Library has announced three programs for adults coming up in September.

Greenfield author/storyteller Kurt Vetters will present two books on the American Civil War at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 9.

Join a Brown Bag Book Discussion at 10 a.m. Sept. 13, discussing “A Woman of No Importance: The Untold Story of the American Spy who Helped Win WWII.”

Paint with coffee — literally — while also sipping on samples from Hitherto Coffee in a “Coffee and Canvas” art event at 6 p.m. Sept. 16. To learn more and to sign up for any of the events, visit hcplibrary.org.

School foundation seeking sponsors for gala

GREENFIELD — The Greenfield Community School Foundation’s Red Letter Gala is Sept. 25, with a registration deadline of Sept. 18.

The event, held both in-person and digitally, is held on the foundation’s 10th anniversary. The foundation connects the community to the classroom through charitable gifts. Sponsorship levels are available for the event, as well as individual tickets at $60 each. Reservations and donations can be mailed to Greenfield Central School Foundation, attn. Ginny Brown, 110 W. Life skills taught in upcoming workshops

GREENFIELD — Home repairs, budgeting, cooking and car maintenance will be discussed in an upcoming “I Can” series of workshops.

Classes are free and open to the public at Greenfield Christian Church, 23 N. East St. The series is sponsored by Hancock County Extension Homemakers and Love in the Name of Christ.

“I Can Check my Car Fluids” will be held Oct. 18. “I Can Do Simple Home Repairs” will be Oct. 25. “I Can Budget My Money” will be Nov. 1, and “I Can Cook” will be Nov. 8. Giveaways are available to those who attend all four classes.

Golf fundraiser for child advocacy center set

GREENFIELD — Zoey’s Place Child Advocacy Center is holding its annual golf outing fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 2.

The event, at Arrowhead Golf Course in Greenfield, features several hole, team and food sponsor opportunities.
