GREENWOOD — Soar down to Greenwood for “Just Plane Fun” Airport Day.

The Indy South Greenwood Airport is hosting the event from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. There will be a World War II themed area, helicopter rides, civil air patrol, flight simulators and more. Free aircraft rides are available for ages 8-17; reservations are suggested. SHELBYVILLE — Shelby County will celebrate its 200th year by tapping into its Appalachian roots with a “Bluegrass Jam by the Books” event this Friday, Aug. 21.

The Moon Cave Ramblers will kick off the event at 7 p.m. at the Shelby County Public Library’s plaza, 57 W. Broadway St., Shelbyville. An open circle jam will follow at 8 p.m. If you’d like to participate in the jam, bring your instrument and a stool.

A pork chop meal will be held at 7 p.m., and a cash bar will be at the event. The family-friendly event tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for students. Proceeds benefit new furnishings at the library. Buy tickets at the Shelby County Public Library, or online, myshelbylibrary.org.
