Greenfield-Central softball standout Ellie Ewald earned a national title this off-season.
Ewald, a Greenfield-Central senior, helped her club team, the Indiana Shockwaves Rayman 16U squad, finish first at the 2021 USA Fast Pitch Girls’ Class A 16U National Championships held in Sioux Falls, S.D.
The Shockwaves ran the table during the 16U nationals, posting a 6-0 record through the seven-day event conducted in late July at the Sherman Park Complex.
Ewald and the Shockwaves bested both national runner-up Magic 16U Gold of Minnesota (5-2) and third-place finisher Indiana Fusion Elite 16U Premier Unruh Pinkston of New Albany (6-2).
Ewald has committed to continue her softball career at the University of Indianapolis. She concluded her 2020-21 softball season at Greenfield-Central with a .378 batting average, 28 RBI, 14 runs, five doubles and seven home runs.
