McCORDSVILLE — A trivia fundraiser benefiting Friends of CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is scheduled Thursday, Sept. 16 at Daniel’s Vineyard and Winery in McCordsville.

The event will include a silent auction, 50/50 raffle, door prizes and pizza. Tickets are $10 and are available at the CASA office, 98 E. North St., or at casahancockcountyin.org.

Solar tax credit meeting scheduled

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana residents and business owners curious about a 26 percent federal tax credit for installing solar panels can learn details in an upcoming Zoom meeting of Solarize East Central Indiana.

The free meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30 and include a 30-minute presentation followed by an hour for questions.

Prior registration is required. The Zoom link for registration, can be found at www.facebook.com/solarizeECI or by sending an email to Carolyn Vann, [email protected], or John Vann, [email protected], who are co-team leaders of Solarize ECI, a community group affiliated with Solarize Indiana.

Recycling event to be held Saturday

GREENFIELD — Hazardous waste, electronics, tires and more can be recycled in an upcoming collection event at Covance.

The Hancock County Solid Waste Management District is hosting the event at the site, 671 S. Meridian Road, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28. Cash and credit cards will be accepted for recycling: hazardous waste, $5 per carload; electronics, $5 per carload with several additional fees for certain items; document shredding, $3 per box; tires, $4.50 off rim or $5 on; latex paint, $1 per quart, $2 per gallon, $5 per 5-gallon; and aerosol cans, 50 cents each. Shoe donations and non-perishable food will also be accepted.

Organic producers can apply for financial help

GREENFIELD — Those who produce or handle organic products can apply for federal assistance through the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The Organic Certification Cost Share Program applications are due Nov. 1. The program provides assistance for the cost of obtaining or keeping an organic certification. Producers can be reimbursed for expenses made between Oct. 2, 2020 and Sept. 30, 2021, including application fees, inspection costs and more.
