New Palestine driver dies in Shelby County accident

NEW PALESTINE — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department said a New Palestine woman died after a single-vehicle crash at 9:30 a.m. Monday on Shelby County Road 600W, south of County Road 1100N.

A 2017 Chevy Equinox being driven by Angelica Hood, 21, New Palestine, left the roadway, struck a guardrail and came to rest in a creek, deputies said. Hood was pronounced deceased at the scene. It is unknown why the vehicle left the roadway, deputies said.

The location is about a mile south of the Hancock/Shelby County line.
