The Greenfield-Central girls golf team opened the 2021 campaign on Thursday with a second-place finish in a three-way match against Columbus East and Whiteland.
The Cougars shot a 211 to best Whiteland (225) and come in behind Columbus East (174).
G-C was led by Sydnie Wherry’s 46 and Katie Curry’s 47.
Marauders place 3rd at Hickory Stick
The Mt. Vernon girls golf team finished third overall out of nine teams during this weekend’s Second Annual Trojan Classic Invitational at Hickory Stick Golf Club in Greenwood.
The Marauders shot a 349 led by event medalist Alaina Nugent, who carded a 73.
Meredith Johnson followed with an 80 to place sixth overall. Sophie Amenigen added a 96, Mackenzie Miner shot a 100 and Izzy VanHeel posted a 103.
Center Grove won the invite with a 318. Plainfield was second at 337. Southport (366), Perry Meridian (373), Martinsville (373), Greenwood (396), Avon (409) and Whiteland (433) rounded out the top-nine.
