McCORDSVILLE –A “Treasures and Trinkets” community yard sale is coming up in McCordsville next month, with proceeds to benefit Oscar the cat and the town mascot’s fund.

The sale is set for 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 11 in the town hall community park, 6280 W. 800N., McCordsville. Tent reservations for sellers and vendors are being accepted now. A $15 fee reserves a space. Proceeds from booth spaces benefit Oscar’s Town Mascot Fund. The town’s cat has medical concerns; proceeds will go into the Cathy Gardner Town Mascot Nonreverting Fund, named in honor of the former town clerk after her retirement. Bumblebee art accepted for Riley Festival

GREENFIELD — Hancock County Arts is hosting a “Bumblebees and Bugs” watercolor class with artist Sandy Hall at 12:30 p.m. Aug. 18. The class is $30 and includes supplies. Since the Riley Festival theme this fall is “The Bumblebee,” participants are encouraged to enter their pieces in the festival show as well. The class will be at the 20A North Gallery, 20 N. State St. in downtown Greenfield.

Any art piece on bumblebees can be entered in the Riley Festival show. Cost to enter the show is $10 for two pieces. Deadline to register in the show is Aug. 25. For more information on the show or the water color class, visit www.hancockcountyarts.com.

Chalk fest returning Sept. 11

GREENFIELD — Chalk Fest is returning for its 13th year on Sept. 11, this time in the Riley Park pool and parking lot area. Vendors are being sought to join the event sponsored by Hancock County Arts. Journey Bags accepting fall clothing donations

GREENFIELD — Journey Bags of Hancock County is seeking donations for fall and winter clothing. Items needed include jeans, pants and leggings in size infant through adult. Donations can be dropped off to boxes in the entrances of both branches of the Hancock County Public Library.

Journey Bags provides toiletries and clothing to underprivileged children in the county.
