Sunflowers, Tractor Town open for season at Tuttles

FORTVILLE — Stroll along a field of sunflowers and enjoy a country playground at Tuttle Orchard’s sunflower meadow experience.

The four acres of sunflowers are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and will likely be open through September, since three plantings should yield blooms the rest of the summer. It takes about 20 minutes to walk through the trail and tickets are required and should be purchased in advance at indianapolisorchard.com.

Admission is $8 per person ages 2 and up and includes admission to Tractor Town Kids Play Area. There are also special play date pricing options at a $2 discount on select weekday mornings; visit the website or call (317) 326-2278 for more information.

Sheep expo returns to county fairgrounds

GREENFIELD — Head to the Hancock County Fairgrounds this weekend for sheep in every barn, vendors and food. Children from across the nation will be competing in the Youth Sheep Expo, which started Wednesday, July 28 and lasts through Sunday, Aug. 1. The event began last year as a way to give children a chance to show their animals despite competition cancellations from the pandemic. It attracted participants from 13 states and was so popular it’s back for a second year.

Trade show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. For a complete schedule, visit youthsheepexpo.weebly.com.

Children’s Museum offers reduced admission

INDIANAPOLIS — Entrance into the Indianapolis Children’s Museum is greatly reduced every first Thursday of the month, so mark your calendar for Aug. 5. Admission is $6 per person from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., with entrance to all exhibits.

Unlock codes and soar through the sky with “DC Super Heroes: Discover your Superpowers.” Take a plane ride to Greece and walk through its streets or make-believe play at a sea turtle veterinary clinic at “Take Me There: Greece.” Or explore all things sports and play together in mini fields and courts at “Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience.”

Restrictions have been lifted from the carousel and many of the hands-on exhibits. While Dinosphere remains under construction, fossils can be found throughout all four floors of the museum. Capacity is limited so buy your tickets in advance at www.childrensmuseum.org.
