GREENFIELD — This year’s Pennsy Trail Art & Music Festival is on track to be a huge event, with multiple artisans, musical acts and food vendors lined up to be there on Saturday, July 31.

The festival will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the Courthouse Plaza and American Legion Place in downtown Greenfield, just south of the county courthouse.

The event is put on by Mental Health Partners of Hancock County, which launched the first festival in 1998.

Since then, it’s grown significantly, said the nonprofit’s executive director, Kim Hall.

“I’ve had to turn vendors away this year, and I hate that,” she said.

The festival is a great place to pick up handcrafted art and other items handmade by local vendors, said Hall, who is looking forward to getting back to a big festival, after last year’s event was drastically reduced in size due to COVID-19.

“This year we think it’s going to be packed because people are anxious to get out,” she said.

The pandemic has also increased the number of art vendors, by enticing people to develop new artistic skills throughout the lockdown.

“I think a lot more people have found their hidden talents over the past year. We’ve got several new vendors, which is pretty exciting,” said Hall.

She’s also excited about this year’s lineup of food vendors, who will offering wood-fired pizzas, kettle corn, deep-fried treats and more.

Guests are encouraged to come out and enjoy some great food and local music throughout the day, and take part in the Ducky Derby raffle at 2 p.m.

The festival is the biggest fundraiser of the year for Mental Health Partners of Hancock County, which provides financial assistance for mental health counseling, mental health medications and substance abuse treatment. The nonprofit also provides backpacks filled with personal care items for those without a permanent home.
