Pastor Roger Allen Smith Sr., age 76, of Madison, Indiana entered this life on May 18, 1945 in Salem, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Taft and Pansy Reynolds Smith. He lived a while in Salem and Medora, Indiana and attended school there. On October 18, 1964 he was united in marriage to Myrtle I. Mills. This happy union of 57 years was blessed with a son Roger, Jr. and daughters, Pamela Marie and Melissa Sue. Roger began his working career with Smith Furniture as a cabinet maker for 17 years in Salem. He worked at the Salem Middle School and Elementary as a custodian for 8 years. The family moved to Madison in 1986 and he was a member of Christ Temple Church for 20 years and would serve as interim pastor as needed. Roger had also worked for Contour – Bailey Plastics for 15 years in Madison. He currently was a faithful member of the Point of Grace Family Praise Fellowship Church in Madison. Roger was a woodworker at heart, building beautiful cabinets and other things. He was a loving husband, devoted dad, papaw, pops and friend. Roger died on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at 9:11 p.m. at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison, Indiana. Roger will be missed by his loving wife of nearly 57 years, Myrtle I. Mills Smith of Madison, Indiana; his son, Roger Allen Smith, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn of Hanover, Indiana; his daughters, Pamela Marie Smith of Madison, Indiana, Melissa Sue Neal and her husband Billy, Sr. of Madison, Indiana; his grandchildren, Scottland A. Sons and his wife, Jeannine, Valeeya Neal, Billy Clyde Neal, Jr. and his companion, Grace, Lakin Neal, Amanda Dixon and her fianc?e, Brock VanWye; his great grandchildren, Luna, Kali, Brennen, Gemma and Oreo; his brother, James Smith of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; his sisters in law and brothers in law, Wilma Smith, Helen Smith, and Mary Smith all of Medora, Indiana, Patricia Craft of Portsmouth, Ohio, J.B. Mills and his wife, Ruth of Scottsburg, Indiana, and James “Dickie” Mills and his wife, Alma of Austin, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Taft Smith, his mother, Pansy Reynolds Smith, his sisters, Lorene Smith and Joanne Smith, his brothers, Harold Smith, William Smith, Loren Smith, Ronald Smith, Leland Smith, and an infant son. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, July 2, 2021, at 2:00 pm, by Pastor Adam Faulkner at the Point of Grace Family Praise Fellowship Church, 3304 North U.S. Highway 421 in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Springdale Cemetery,600 West Fifth Street in downtown Madison, Indiana. Friends may visit Friday from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 p.m. at the Point of Grace Family Praise Fellowship Church, 3304 North U.S. Highway 421 in Madison, Indiana.
