1. Grab a lawn chair and head to Greenfield-Central Junior High school for the annual fourth of July fireworks display, hosted by Dellen Automotive. The free show starts after dark on Sunday, at around 10 p.m. There’s plenty of parking lot and green space to spread out and enjoy the show at the school, located at 1440 N. Franklin St.

2. For those who want to start celebrating early on the Fourth, visit the Lawrence 4th Fest in Lawrence Community Park, at 5301 N. Franklin Road in Indianapolis.

The festival takes place from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Sunday, July 4, and features a parade and carnival as well as a fish fry, food trucks, live music and a Classic Car Show. The Lawrence Fireworks Extravaganza takes to the sky to round out the night. Information: sargentroadassociation.org/calendar/2021/7/4/lawrence-4th-fest

3. The Hancock4Kids Family Fun Summer series returns today, July 1, when families can stop in for free activities and information sessions at the Riley Park Pavilion, at 333 N. Lincoln St., inside Riley Park in Greenfield. Stop by from 6:30-8 p.m. summer fun pack giveaways and grab-and-go snack packs.

Hancock4Kids will also host its annual Back-to-School night on July 15, when kids can stop in to receive a backpack and school supplies. Children must be present to receive giveaways.

Registration is required for the giveaways on July 15, but not for today’s event.
