Tennis standouts earn All-HHC honors

Six players from Hoosier Heritage Conference champion Delta and five from runner-up Mt. Vernon highlight the 2021 All-HHC girls tennis team.

Delta placed two singles players and both of its doubles teams on the All-HHC team. They led the Eagles to a 7-0 conference record and the program’s 11th consecutive conference title. Delta has won the HHC title in 22 of its 23 seasons since joining the conference in 1997.

Tim Cleland of Delta was named Coach of the Year.

Cougar Hoops fundraiser next week

The Greenfield-Central High School boys basketball program is hosting a “Dine For Donate” fundraiser with Hometown Classic Pizza on Wednesday, June 23.

Hometown Classic Pizza, located at 1002 E. Main St. in Greenfield, will donate 10 percent of all proceeds on June 23 to the G-C boys basketball program.


 

All-MEC baseball team announced

Mid-Eastern Conference baseball champion Wapahani had five players selected to the 2021 All-MEC baseball team with runner-up Monroe Central receiving four spots on the 26-person list.

Wes-Del also had four players honored following the team’s third-place finish in the MEC. Shenandoah was fourth in the conference with three selections, followed by Blue River Valley, Cowan, Eastern Hancock, Daleville and Randolph Southern.
