Cumberland celebrating trails day on Saturday

CUMBERLAND — The town of Cumberland will celebrate Cumberland Trails Day in Lions Park and on the Buck Creek and Pennsy trails on Saturday, June 5.

The celebration of National Trails Day will take place in Lions Park, 301 N. Buck Creek Road. It begins at 8 a.m. with a with a 5-mile run that takes participants past the newly painted mural on the underpass of U.S. 40, out to the new trail head structure at County Road 600W and back to Lions Park. At 8:30 a.m., there is a 1-mile family fun run/walk along the Buck Creek trail.

The official dedication of the new mural will be at 10:15 a.m.

From noon to 4 p.m. in Lions Park, there will be food trucks, giveaways, games on the green space, pickle ball, safety demonstrations with police and more.

Proceeds from the races will go to the Cumberland Police Departments C.A.R.E. Unit. CARE integrates the expertise of public safety, health and mental health professionals.
