GREENFIELD — With the installation of a median on State Street on the north side of the city, U-turns have become more common, and drivers should take care to watch out for them while driving on the busy street.

Capt. Chuck McMichael of the Greenfield Police Department said drivers making U-turns on a green light have the right of way over drivers turning right onto State Street on a red light. Drivers making U-turns should also exercise caution and should yield to oncoming traffic.

McMichael said the GPD will work with the Indiana Department of Transportation’s traffic safety commission to consider the best ways to increase traffic awareness. Signage may be installed in the future.
