Town celebrating trails day with runs, festivities

CUMBERLAND — The town of Cumberland is celebrating National Trails Day on June 5 with runs and a lineup of festivities at Lions Park.

A five-mile competitive run/walk starts at 8 a.m., registration for which is $20. A one-mile family fun run/walk starts at 8:30 a.m., registration for which is $10.

All proceeds go to the Cumberland Metropolitan Police Department’s CARE Unit, which integrates public safety, health and mental health professionals.

From noon to 4 p.m., there will be food trucks, giveaways every 15 minutes, trail safety demonstrations, pickle ball and more. The first 200 attendees will receive a free Kona Ice.
