Business briefs: Downtown organization updates branding

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Main Street, Inc., a nonprofit organization representing the city’s downtown, has updated its logo and branding.

The new emblem features a historic looking building similar to those on Greenfield’s Main Street. The four dots under the Main Street text represent the four pillars that make up the Main Street program: economic vitality, organization, design and promotion. The new color palette is complimentary and provides a more modern feel.

Home sales, real estate prices increase for county in March

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county saw an active and robust residential real estate market in March, a real estate firm reports, with home sales and prices increasing and inventory continuing to decrease.

Monthly real estate statistics from F.C. Tucker Company for March 2021 show a 44.5% increase in the number of Hancock County homes sold compared to March 2020. Home prices also increased 11.9% to $254,773. Available housing inventory continued to decrease, down 62.5% compared to this time last year.

Economic development group gets $5,000 from Duke Energy program

HANCOCK COUNTY — The Hancock County Economic Development Council was one of 18 Indiana economic development groups to get $5,000 from Duke Energy’s 2021 Marketing Partnership Program.

To qualify for program consideration, each applicant must submit a plan that has a direct impact on the community’s economic growth and supports Duke Energy’s economic development goals. Grant funding does not include travel, lodging, food and beverage and entertainment expenses.

Examples of how the grants may be used include opportunities to increase awareness of a community or region’s economic development strategies and product availability, tours and special events to promote business sites and communities and marketing campaigns and promotional materials.

New Pal Chamber of Commerce hosting networking event

NEW PALESTINE — The New Palestine Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting “April Bizness Afterhours,” a networking event, from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 22 at HRM Insurance, 18 E. Main St., New Palestine.

Madison County Federal Credit Union expands charter to county

HANCOCK COUNTY — Madison County Federal Credit Union received approval from the National Credit Union Association to expand its community charter to three additional counties — Hancock, Delaware and Henry.

The expansion, effective immediately, opens membership and full credit union services to anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school or volunteers in any one of the credit union’s new four-county service area, their immediate family members as well as businesses and organizations.

While there are currently no branches in the expanded counties, individuals can apply for membership online at madcofcu.org to begin the application process or text the word MEMBERSHIP to 765-644-3623. The credit union offers online, mobile and phone service, enabling members to conduct most financial transactions without visiting a physical branch.
