HANCOCK COUNTY — The Shirley Police Department has announced dates for a 2021 Firearms Safety Course. The class will be conducted on Saturday, June 12 and Saturday, July 24. Interested parties can call or email a registration at 765-738-0079 or [email protected]. The class will consist of a half day of classroom lecture and training and then move to the firing range for practical skills and application of the material discussed in the class. Cost for this course is $40 per individual. Payment will only be accepted on the day of the class. Participants do not need a handgun permit to attend this course per I.C. Code 35-47-2-1. If a person does not have a permit, the handgun must be unloaded, not readily accessible and secured in a case.
