GREENFIELD — The intersection of State Street and New Road will be severely restricted (on Wednesday, March 17) due to construction work. Work will begin after the morning rush hour and should be complete by the evening rush hour. The work originally was scheduled to begin on Tuesday but was postponed because of the weather.

Officials suggest avoiding the area if at all possible.

Southbound traffic on State Street will be able to continue south or turn west. Northbound traffic will be able to continue north or turn east. Eastbound traffic will have to turn north or south, and will not be able to continue across State Street. Westbound traffic will be closed at Melody Lane. Drivers will not be able to access State Street through New Road, and should use Melody Lane or Martindale Drive.

Work crews will be digging up a large section of the roadway to patch it in preparation for paving later on this spring as part of the major construction project the length of State Street (State Road 9) in Greenfield. This work is weather-dependent.
