Library offers Take-and-Make Cat-in-the-Hat kits

GREENFIELD/NEW PALESTINE – Kids in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade can pick up a free take-and-make Cat-in-the-Hat kids to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday. The kit contains all supplies necessary to complete the project. Kits can be picked up while supplies last at the children’s desk all day during open library hours on March 8 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield, or the New Palestine Branch Library at 5731 West U.S. Highway 52, New Palestine. No registration necessary. One kit per participant. Spring Break Art Camp taking registration

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Parks and Recreation is now taking registration for Spring Break Art Camp, at the Patricia Elmore Center, 280 Apple St. Camp for ages 6 through 8 will meet from 9 to 10 a.m.; camp for ages 9 through 12 will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. The camp, led by Indie Art Studio’s Rachel Holmes, will celebrate all things spring in various forms of art. Participants will learn about symmetry while painting butterflies, create critters out of air dry clay and channel the artist Vincent Van Gogh with tree paintings. The camp for the younger students is $35 for residents and $40 for non-residents; the camp for the older children is $45 for residents and $50 for non-residents. Celebrate Family Literacy Day at the Indiana State Museum

INDIANAPOLIS – On March 6 — Family Literacy Day – families can explore the galleries at the Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St., with children ages 6 and younger. Experiences include various literacy-centered activities from interactive read-alongs in galleries to storytelling performances and open-ended, hands-on STEAM projects.
