“The Living” foreshadows AIDS and COVID

INDIANAPOLIS — Butler Theatre presents Anthony Clarvoe’s “The Living” at 7 p.m. Feb. 26. This haunting play about the Great Plague of London deals with the 17th century tragedy in a way that illuminated the AIDS epidemic when it was first produced in the early 1990s. Today, “The Living” resonates with the new COVID-19 world in similar ways. This story will be brought to life by Butler theater majors under the direction of one of Indianapolis’ favorite actors, Constance Macy. Tickets are $25 at ticketmaster.com. A live stream of the production will occur during the performance on the website at butlerartscenter.org/performance/butler-theatre-the-living/.

Live stream “Pride and Prejudice” from the Civic

CARMEL – The Booth Tarkington Civic Theatre presents Jane Austin’s “Pride and Prejudice” for a new era that explores the absurdities and thrills of finding the perfect (or imperfect) match in life. The outspoken Lizzy Bennet is determined to never marry, despite mounting pressure from society. But can she resist love, especially when that handsome, mildly amusing, and impossibly aggravating Mr. Darcy keeps popping up at every turn? The cast features Greenfield-Central graduate Franke Bolda as Charlotte Lucas and Mary. ”Pride and Prejudice” streams live Feb. 26 and 27. On Demand tickets are available through Feb. 27. Tickets start at $27. For more information or to reserve a ticket, visit civictheatre.org.
