INDIANAPOLIS — In memory of the more than 500,000 Americans who have died from COVID-19 since the pandemic, Gov. Eric Holcomb has directed that flags across Indiana should be flown at half-staff.

Flags on state property will be flown at half-staff until sunset on Feb. 26. Holcomb also asks businesses and residents to lower their flags as well.

According to federal health statistics, COVID-19 is now the third-leading cause of death in the United States, behind just heart disease and cancer. The U.S. has recorded the greatest number of deaths of any country during the pandemic.
