Residents asked to adopt a fire hydrant

HANCOCK COUNTY — The Greenfield Fire Territory is asking community members to participate in its Adopt A Hydrant program. Those who have a hydrant on or near their property are asked to clear snow from around the hydrant to make sure it is visible. “With the heavy snowfall we have experienced, it is becoming difficult to locate hydrants,” public information officer Corey Breese said.

The department would like to see a 3-foot buffer around each hydrant and a path to the street.
