GREENFIELD

Donna Jean Stephens, 64, of Greenfield, was called home by her heavenly father Saturday, January 16, 2021. Donna was born October 16, 1956 to John and Vada (Jones) Rockey. She was a graduate of Greenfield Central High School.

Donna was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, as well as a devout servant of God. She loved to go on cruises, read, camp, and go places with her family; enjoyed church and telling others about Jesus; and creating changes in the lives of others with the teaching of God.

Donna married Jerry Ray Stephens on September 2, 1972 and gave her life to Christ on May 15, 1988. And when she was not helping to raise her family, she spent her time serving Christ. She volunteered at the Hancock Hope House when they opened in 1992. She organized bible studies, provided transportation for residents, and helped with anything else she was needed for. Also, in 1992 she began doing women’s bible studies at Hancock County Jail twice a month until 2005. Donna put on bible studies and Christmas parties at the Indiana Women’s Prison from 1993 to 2006. She assisted with the Jesus Loves You Homeless Ministry with Dale and Pat Johnson. She also had weekly bible studies on Friday nights at the Class of ’58 bar in Greenfield with her ministry partner and best friend, Pat Johnson. Donna began teaching Home Group/Bible Study in her home starting in February 2011. She volunteered at WJCF 88.1 Christian Radio station from 2004-2007 and was also an ordained minister.

Donna is survived by her husband Jerry Stephens; sons; John (Dawn) Stephens of Mays, Jeremy (Mindy) Stephens of Greenfield, and Tommy Stephens of Greenfield; 8 grandchildren: Kaitlyn, April, Logan, Faith, Angelia, MaKenzie, Sarah, and Natalie; great-granddaughters: Ellie and Emery; half-brother; Jim Rockey of New Palestine; and half-sister; Ruby (Kenny) Reynolds of Indianapolis.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents; half-brothers: Ernest Lunsford, Joseph “Bud” Lunsford, Gerald Rockey, and Robert Lunsford; and half-sisters: Lois Tompkins and Gwen Wallace.
