Real estate market in county finishes year strong

HANCOCK COUNTY — The county’s residential real estate market finished the year 2020 strong, despite another significant decrease in housing inventory, according to an area real estate firm.

Monthly real estate stats from F.C. Tucker Company for December 2020 show a 39.1% increase in the number of homes sold in Hancock County. Home sale prices also increased — up 8% to an average price of $241,114, compared to year-to-date 2019. Housing inventory continued to decrease, down 56.5%, compared to the same time last year.

Greenfield banker elected to state association board

INDIANAPOLIS — John M. Kennedy, president, CEO and chairman of Greenfield Banking Company and Greenfield Bancshares Inc., was elected as one of the south region representatives on the Indiana Bankers Association’s Board of Directors for 2021.

The members of the board assumed positions effective Jan. 1. Board members were elected on Nov. 18 during the virtual IBA Mega Reimagined Conference and Annual Convention. The functions of the board are to guide IBA policy and to establish long-range goals and objectives. Additionally, the board helps determine the association’s legislative programs and positions on issues affecting the Indiana banking community.

Crop loss assistance available to producers

WASHINGTON — Signup for the Quality Loss Adjustment Program under the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency has begun.

Funded by the Further Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2020, the new program provides assistance to producers who suffered eligible crop quality losses due to natural disasters occurring in 2018 and 2019. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 5, 2021.

Insurance agency announces promotion

INDIANAPOLIS — Jeff McDonald started the year as senior vice president of the Property and Casualty companies for Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance.

McDonald began his career with Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance in 2009 as director and chief actuary, Product Management Solutions. He was promoted in 2015 to executive director and chief actuary, Product Management Solutions. He was promoted to vice president and chief actuary of the Property and Casualty companies in 2017.
