Royals Boosters seeking HOF nominees

The Eastern Hancock Athletic Boosters are seeking nominations for the 2021 class of the Eastern Hancock Athletic Hall of Fame.

The EH Hall of Fame recognizes the achievements of former athletes, teams, coaches, administrators and other contributors to the athletic programs at Eastern Hancock, Charlottesville, Westland and Wilkinson High Schools.

To be eligible, an athlete must be seven years removed from competition, coaches must be five years removed and teams must be 10 years removed.

Nominations are due to the EH athletic director’s office or by email to [email protected] by 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 18, 2020.

The 2021 Eastern Hancock Hall of Fame class will be recognized at halftime of the EH-Union County boys varsity basketball game on Jan. 30, 2021, if fans are permitted, or at a later date.

Austin, Cole named to IFCA Top-50

This month, the Indiana Football Coaches Association honored the state’s top players by announcing its 2020 Top-50 All-State team.

Among the honorees were New Palestine senior wide receiver Blake Austin and Mt. Vernon senior defensive back Rylan Cole.

Standout players Week 6 IBCA honorees

A total of six student-athletes were selected as recipients for the Week 6 IBCA/Franciscan Health Player of the Week award.

Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian Senior Caleb Furst, Greencastle Senior Brody Whitaker, East Central Senior Logan Rohrbacher, Bremen Junior Ellia Foster, Heritage Christian Senior Ariana Wiggins, and Brown County Sophomore Abby Fleetwood have been selected as honorees for Dec. 7-Dec. 12 in the recognition program coordinated by the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association.

Furst is the boys’ winner, and Foster is the girls’ winner in District-1. Whitaker takes home boys’ honors, while Wiggins is the girls’ honoree in District-2. Rohrbacher and Fleetwood are the boys’ and girls’ recipients, respectively, in District-3.

Nov. 23-Nov. 28: District-2 boys: Brooks Barnhizer, Lafayette Jefferson, and Gus Etchison, Hamilton Heights. District-2 girls: Jayla Smith, Lawrence North.

Nov. 30-Dec. 5: District-2 boys: Ian Scott, Plainfield. District-2 girls: Skylie Lutz, Union City.

Dec. 7-Dec. 12: District-2 boys: Brody Whitaker, Greencastle. District-2 girls: Ariana Wiggins, Heritage Christian.
