HANCOCK COUNTY — Squads from Eastern Hancock and Greenfield-Central High School recently competed in the 2020 Indiana Cheer Championships. The competition was held virtually, and teams each submitted a single performance video. Schools competed in Varsity levels based on total school enrollment. In the All-Girl Partner Stunt Group, Eastern Hancock won first in state for Varsity D and Greenfield Central placed runner-up for Varsity B. Eastern Hancock also placed third in High School Time Out Small category for routines that could be performed during a time out at a football game.
Jillian Baker, a Greenfield-Central graduate now attending IUPUI as a freshman, was one of 12 cheerleaders named to the 2020 Indiana Academic All-State Cheer Team. Team members each received $1,000 scholarship. Baker is studying exercise science and physical therapy.
