All-HHC boys tennis team announced
A total of 14 players have been named to the 2020 All-Hoosier Heritage Conference tennis team, including three from HHC champion Delta and five from sectional champion Mt. Vernon. Yorktown also had three representatives to the All-HHC team.
Three HHC teams won sectional titles this season. Delta won its 21st conference title this season, including its third consecutive and 10th in the last 11 years. The Eagles also won their sectional and regional championships. Mt. Vernon and Shelbyville also won sectional titles.
Mt. Vernon’s Gabe Muterspaugh was named Coach of the Year.

IATCCC academic all-state teams released
The Indiana Association of Track and Cross-Country Coaches recently announced its 2020 Academic All-State boys and girls teams.
Greenfield-Central’s Audrey Brinkruff and New Palestine’s Brenna Shaw earned first-team honors.
Mt. Vernon’s Rissa Foster and New Palestine’s Megan Collins both were named to the girls’ honorable mention team.
Greenfield-Central’s Gage Guenin and Luke Muckerheide and New Palestine’s Harrison Holloway each were selected to the boys’ first team.
Boys’ all-academic honorable mentions were awarded to Greenfield-Central’s Masanori Kojima and Lucas Tutrow. Mt. Vernon’s Colin Brown, Jackson Champion, Carson Collinsworth and Samuel Wilson were also honored.

Carmel bests North Central for tennis title
The Carmel Greyhounds won their fifth consecutive boys tennis team state championship on Saturday.
The Greyhounds defeated North Central 3-2 in the finals to secure their eighth state title in 11 years and 13th overall since 1980.
The matchup marked the seventh time in 11 years that Carmel and North Central faced off in the state championship match with the Greyhounds winning six of those meetings.
Carmel was victorious at No. 2 singles with Eli Mercer winning 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 against North Central’s Alex Antonopolous. The Greyhounds swept both doubles matches for their other two decisive points.
Srisanth Malpeddi/Jones McNamar won 6-1, 6-0 over Seraj Hamid/Caden Lesnick at one doubles, while Ethan Eckhart/Corbin King won 6-2, 6-1 over Jackson Hahn/Andrew Haggstrom.
