GREENFIELD — Hancock County courtrooms will get an upgrade with camera and monitor systems that will allow witnesses and other parties to cases to appear in court remotely.

The Hancock County Commissioners approved a contract with the company Diversified Midwest to spend approximately $84,000 on the systems, which will be installed in all of the county’s courts. They will be used mostly to allow people residing outside Indiana to testify without the risk of contracting COVID-19 while traveling, county IT director Bernie Harris said.

The funds will come out of the county’s 2019 general obligation bond, with hopes that it can be reimbursed with CARES Act funding.
