Library offers take-and-make-it troll magnet kits

GREENFIELD/NEW PALESTINE –Kids and tweens can pick up a free take-and-make-it troll magnet kit to create brightly colored troll magnets to decorate the refrigerator or desk area. Each kit contains instructions and all materials necessary to complete the project. While supplies last, kits can be picked up all day during open library hours on Oct. 12 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield, or the New Palestine Branch Library at 5731 West U.S. Highway 52, New Palestine. One kit per participant. Visit hcplibrary.org for more information.

‘Lafcadio the Lion’ on stage and virtually

INDIANAPOLIS — A student production of Shel Silverstein’s “Lafcadio, the Lion Who Shot Back” will be performed live Oct. 8, 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. at the Shelton Auditorium, 1000 W. 42nd St. on the Butler campus. The performance will also be live-streamed. Lafcadio is a young lion who does not know what a hunter is. When he finds out, he decides he wants to be one, too. This production is geared towards young children. Ticket prices range from $5 to $15 and are available only in advance online at butlerartscenter.org.

Fright Night returns to Indiana State Museum

INDIANAPOLIS — Dress in your Halloween best for a night of spooky fun from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Indiana State Museum, 650 W. Washington St. Conduct experiments and visit a mad scientist’s lab for a scientific show; discover “monsters” of Indiana’s past; feel chills down your spine during spooky story time; and then strut your ghoulish stuff in the costume contest for a chance to win a prize.
