To the editor:
I am walking away from the mainstream political parties, and you should, too.
If this summer has taught us one thing, it is that the government views all of us as expendable. From the many small businesses that have been forced into bankruptcy, to thousands of Hoosiers being forced out of work, we have witnessed their willingness to destroy our livelihoods in order to gain political favor.
This November, I encourage you to please look into Libertarian candidates in your area. They won’t get a lot of TV time, because they don’t have deep-pocket investors or the assistance of big-party finances available to help them campaign. In Hancock County, you should consider Donald Rainwater for governor; Tom Ferkinhoff for U.S. House District 6, and Jo Jorgensen for president.
Anyone telling you that voting for a third-party candidate is really a vote for someone else, or a wasted vote, is lying to you and themselves. Nothing changes if nothing changes. You have the power.
