GREENFIELD – The Friends of the Library will have a two-day book sale in the lobby of the main branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road. The sale runs Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Most hardback books are $1; children’s books are 50 cents. Visit hcplibrary.org for more information.

GREENFIELD – Strike Force Lanes and Neighborhoods Against Substance Abuse will play host to Strike Out Drugs, a free bowling event from 2 to 5 p.m. Sept 12 at Strike Force Lanes, 1539 W. Main St. This event is normally a fundraiser for NASA, Brandywine Community Church’s Celebrate Recovery Program and Hancock County D.A.R.E., but given the events of 2020, the goal is to give back to the community. All who attend will get two free games and bowling shoes. Entrance will be on a first come/first served basis, but all who attend will get a chance to bowl. The Strike Force Lanes and Strike Out Drugs event will follow the required COVID related capacity restrictions and other guidelines. The event includes door prizes and a silent auction. All silent auction proceeds will be donated to the Friends 4 Jessica Foundation, a group that offers financial help to local families who have a child going through medical issues. CUMBERLAND — “Art as Defiance in a Time of Pandemic” is Cumberland Arts’ main event for the summer, replacing (temporarily) the Cumberland Arts Fair. The show runs from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9, 10 and 11 at Hendryx Mortuary, 11706 E. Washington St. The exhibit is free, but tickets for the event designate a specific time to tour the gallery to keep the population of the room down to 10 or fewer people. The art — through photograph and video — can also be viewed virtually on the group’s Facebook page (Cumberland Arts) for the three days of the show. All of the art from the show is for sale, ranging in price from $100 to $1,900. Visit Cumberland Arts on Facebook for more details.
